Functional Communication Training (FCT)

Effective communication is key to building independence and enhancing quality of life. Golden Hartz Support Services provides functional communication training (FCT) to help non-verbal and minimally verbal children develop essential speech and language skills. Through tailored interventions, we introduce alternative communication methods such as AAC devices and picture exchange systems (PECS) to support children in expressing their needs and desires. Our goal is to empower children to communicate effectively, reducing frustration and fostering independence.

FCT focuses not only on enhancing expressive language but also on receptive language skills, helping children understand and respond to communication from others. By improving both the ability to express and understand language, we create a comprehensive communication system that can be applied across various environments, from home to school.
